Postmaster Tools shows Gmail-specific delivery signals for verified sending domains. It is not real-time and low-volume days may not show data, so use trends and message logs together rather than reacting to a single empty panel.

1. Verify the correct domain

Add the domain used for DKIM signing or SPF authentication. Verify ownership through the DNS record Google provides, then add relevant subdomains when separate views are useful.

2. Read compliance before reputation

Start with Compliance status. Fix authentication, DNS, encryption, unsubscribe or spam-rate problems before interpreting broader domain or IP reputation labels.

3. Use each dashboard for one question

Spam Rate shows user reports; Authentication shows SPF, DKIM and DMARC pass rates; Encryption shows TLS; Delivery Errors separates rejects from temporary failures; Feedback Loop helps identify complaint-heavy campaigns.

4. Allow for reporting delay

Dashboard changes typically appear after roughly 24 hours and can take longer. Record the exact change time, route, From domain and campaign so later movement can be compared with the correct sending window.

Implementation checklist

  • Primary domain verified
  • Compliance status reviewed
  • Spam-rate trend recorded
  • Authentication pass rates checked
  • TLS percentage checked
  • Delivery errors matched to SMTP logs
